A Child At Heart

What's interesting about life is the fact that you are meant to go through a lot while you  are alive. You are not supposed to expect to live happily ever after all you life, that does not add up to anything in your life records. What makes your life worth the living and reading if you start to write it down, is the struggles and problems you go through while you live. It is from them you take all your strengths and it is from them that you learn to beauty of actual living. You experience patience, pain, silence, and faith all together and while you do, you start to grow into a wiser person. That is the case only if you believe that everything happens for a pretty good reason, and whatever good you do is not to expect anything in return, in fact you do it to live happy and to feel good about yourself. That is all.

Never expect anything in return to whatever you do, if you do good then keep on doing it for nothing in return. On the contrary, avoid seeking harm and pain to the other people around you. If you think you can not say something nice, then don't speak at all. If you believe that you can not do something good to make it better then do not volunteer to make it worse. Keep it all to yourself unless it's something good that will contribute to making others happy.

I came to learn that everything happens for a reason, whether it's something we like or something we detest, if it's meant to be it will be regardless. I came to learn that a weak heart always wins, when a child starts to cry, feeling soft is not a bad thing. When a child that wants to be held is not held, you go and pick him/er up and hold them until their desire is satisfied, it is okay to do that. Sometimes an unexpected moment of silence is all that is needed. Children feel and understand even though they have not matured yet. They feel sad from time to time, they feel the urge to cry for no reason, that is okay. When they are in their ultimate point of joy is when I say "It is okay to be a child at heart". It is them tiny humans that show us the true meaning of life and teach us how to live and enjoy the moment. Let go of all the pain and guilt and hatred, be a child and live happily ever after.

When you want to do something unexpectedly, then do it. Try to avoid thinking about what has not happened and you "think it might" happen in the future because there is no guarantee that the future will arrive. It is all about the moment, although hard to live by but it is worth a try. Force yourself to think about now and live now, when you catch yourself thinking about the future, then look back and stay in the now. Before you run out of the now.

October Morning

"Everything comes to an end, you should just know how to live it perfectly till then." Echo Bliss

As a senior, no complaints came about when we first started this Fall semester around the end of August. It was too soon there's no doubt about that but time just flew by and now it's the first morning in October. October is just different in all aspects, it's a cold month  well kind of chilly compared to the past few months. Everything seems to fall in place when it's October. Deadlines are set, meetings are scheduled and oh well tests are decided. But that's not a problem at all, the best part of October is the fact that explaining what it brings in is such a difficult task, it ordinarily feels great to have another chance at October because September always seems to be the longest month of them all, and the reason for that being is undefined somehow.

When September ends and October begins, it feels weirdly exciting because once October starts this means the end of the semester is approaching quickly. Apparently from an undergrad's point of view this means what's to come is yet stressing and overwhelming at the same time. Firstly because it's literally the very last semester of my Bachelor's journey. Mixed feelings, excitement, and a lot of emotions all overwhelming. Ever since this semester started, for every single day yet all the memories of the past years keep coming and it feels great because so much has been achieved and I'm sure more is yet to come.

In the end it's true, as the days past you are only left with memories that draw a smile on your face every time you remember them.

May 2015

0

For this time of year, I was part of two of the grandest events for this semester: The 2015 Annual IT marathon, and the first Undergraduate Research Conference.

For the first I willingly participated for the sake of change and for the sake of staying away from my studies for a little bit. That worked very well and I'm so glad it did. It was a day to remember in all forms whatsoever. As for the latter, the conference, at first I had a lot of doubts regarding it, but then as a challenge I've decided to step up and give it a shot. With nothing very big to present and basically our abstract to attract attention, my group and I went for it. For the very first time, I can not believe I actually took up this chance and experienced what it really feels like to be part of a conference. It felt amazing actually with all the students from different departments and people from all over the place presenting what they worked for. Regardless of what the awards were, it was a splendid experience.

For our part, we had to present a project we've worked on for quite sometime, but it didn't work out well and we eventually had to change it. Being so attached to it because of the fact that we worked really hard on it was a bit of a shock but it had to happen. The best part of presenting it to the others was getting a lot of different options, ideas, and positive feedback that got us thinking about it. As a matter of fact, we've planned to carry on with it in our spare time and hopefully trying to progress through it because it's inevitable that projects fail, and this was ..well not a fail but a slant stop...I have a feeling it can progress...I hope it will sometime soon.

Aside from all of this, a lot of life lessons came about as I progressed through May.

  • Real life sucks, but you gotta endure it.
  • Never forget the fact that you learn from your mistakes and others as well.
  • You are being prepared for what's out there, it's scary but you can take your time to train yourself.
  • You just have to learn to treat people with your traits and not theirs, because if you use theirs the same way, then there's basically no difference between the two of you.
  • Never fear anything as long as your right, only fear god for he is above them all.
  • No matter how much it hurts, stick to your words and always be honest, because honesty is the only key to a peaceful conscious.
  • Thank whoever supported and stood by you through your hard times, they depict the true meaning of friends and teachers.
  • Do not immerse yourself in one thing, diverse diverse and always diverse.
  • Be thankful to god, he's the only reason things are working out well for you.
  • Even during hardship, thank him because you never know...things always happen for a reason. Let it be good, let it be bad. It was meant to happen and it's inevitable.
  • When you're in a team, your a whole. If one fails, all fails. If one succeeds,  all succeeds. It's just the true meaning of a team.
  • Accept other opinions and especially ones from an expert. But always have a saying and always point out what you think and believe.
  • Quitting a project after 4 months of hard work, does not make your hard work all go to waste because that's not important. What's important is what you learned from the past 4 months is what matters.
  • Respect and accept what they have to say.

A change of plan

0

As all is known, it's that time of year that gets you very grumpy and really nervous. It's the time of year where you put your all at the very last minute to perfect everything.

"Finals week"

Well, that's finally about it. It's finally time for my finals and I've been waiting for so long and studying for so long to the point where I got sick of it all. The funny thing just happened yesterday though. It's something that changed my plan for this entire year and I'm quite proud I've made the decision.

A few weeks back in time, I've received the email of the semester and that was one of those "once in a lifetime" experience for me. It was something I was very looking forward to however failed to participate in because the email was sent on the deadline's date, that annoyed me..very much. It felt like a slip in time and it might never happen again.

The second email that blew me away was a global competition email that's going to be held in France in November of this year. Now again that was sent a night before the deadline and there was such a short period of time for me to actually form a group of 3. So I replied back to the email sender and said: "Such a great opportunity with such a short amount of time to form a group". That got me angry really because all these great opportunities could shape my life and career as well and they just keep on slipping and slipping.

So without further or do, the France competition's team formation was extended and a lot of students signed up for it and yesterday, a meeting was held to determine the "Main team" for the competition.

Three different departments were participating : Mechanical Engineering - Electrical Engineering - Information Technology students. Now that is one fabulous mix, it got me super excited about the idea once again.

Now just to clear things up : the main team that is going to represent the university is to be composed of 6 students, however, this doesn't mean the other students that signed up for the competition can't work on it either because the work cannot be done by 6 students only. So I'd say the supporting team and the main team make about 10 -15 students working on the project. I've never worked with such a group of people but it's making me look forward.

First of all, I'm going to engage myself with people from different departments and we can all shared knowledge and learn from each other . Second is the fact that all of us are super dedicated for the project to the point where we all want to start working on it like right now. Last but not least is the fact that this is one of those events where we stand up and show the world where we come from and what we are capable of doing. All of that just hyped me up for challenging myself and stepping up to join.

Yesterday, it all happened and I still can't believe it happened. I took a step and accepted a challenge that is going to be one of the grandest challenges I'll ever take in my life.

I'm totally up for it, and I'm excited to see what we bring to the table!

Hello January

0

Hello there virtual readers,

I'm making a comeback after sometime with my very first post of 2015. I didn't get to say this a few weeks back but I shall do it now : Happy New Year. No I won't go saying the other cheesy things you hear after that catch phrase, so I'll just keep it to that.

Anyways, on with the exciting stuff, so today I just officially finished all course related tasks for this semester (Fall 2014) and boy don't I feel so fly? It was about time to be honest, and I'm so glad I went through with my hard work till the very end. I still have my finals exams to sit for next week, and I'm planning on taking that week by storm to be honest and have a cherry on top.

I experienced a very odd incident today during my last presentation and it was officially the worst I've had so far! By worst I mean it went so badly I can't even find the proper word for it. Throughout this semester I've found out that I have a thing for public speaking, and I actually enjoy presenting and doing all the talking. So for one of my courses I had to work with a group of people that I've never worked with before and we actually weren't that close of friends, but I acknowledge the fact that I will end up working with all sorts of people that I do not know about, so that's a pro actually. Anyways, out of the blue I ended up being the team leader for that group where they didn't talk it through with me, I was just shocked to see my name under the "Team Leader" category, well that was unexpected but it was unavoidable. Just to keep it brief, one of the worst lessons I've learned and actually talked about during my presentation was "procrastination" . The professor was taken aback by that but I loved the fact that he always asked us to be honest whether it's good or bad, honesty will always be our key so that made me feel a bit confident with what I was saying. I clearly pointed out that I was not the type of person that usually procrastinates, I'm the type that gets things done earlier than necessary and always prefer knowing what I should do if I'm working in a group ( i.e. I like the work to be divided on all the team members so everyone knows what they need to get done).

Moving on, some other lessons I've learned include:

  • Stepping up and taking the lead
    • Elaborating on that, although I was assigned as the team leader, I had to force myself to overcome my feelings of feeling sorry for bothering and pushing my team members to do things early and change the way they usually work because apparently they never worked with someone like me before and that felt burdensome to be honest.
  • Working with 3 different personalities
    • I usually worked in a group of 2 members or 3 at the max and that normally went well, but this time it was a group of 4 including myself and honestly it didn't go so well. I've been getting mad and always not comfortable whenever we had to submit documents because I was always wrapping them up a day before the deadline. That may sound kind of creepy but it's just the way I work, I want to get documents done a few days earlier than the deadline because in such a way I feel better in having the opportunity to go through the documents again and edit them if they need to be edited. On the contrary, I've learned to accept that I should also think of my team members and respect the way they work, as long as they get it done then that's all that matters right?
Well now that I got my presentations and quizzes done, I plan on charging my energy and start to get real business done starting tomorrow!

Laters!

Change of action

0

A wise man was once asked : "How do you, sir, manage to do all these tasks and yet draw a smile on your face throughout your day?"

"It's a matter of self-acceptance and balance." said the wise man, with a smile.

__________________________________________________________________________

This post talks about how she took the wise man's answer and began to take it to heart. Once heard and understood, it was time to use it in practice, that's what she thought. Was it the right way of thinking, or was it not.. it did not matter to her.

As long as she loved what she was doing and how she was spending her time, her heart was at ease. After all she was living her life doing what she really liked, with who she loved. Time began to pass on that and things were starting to get out of control at some point. She couldn't manage, but she knew if she took things one step at a time she would be able to get back on track, she would be able to balance things, that she knew.

She also knew what most people won't, and what most people will not easily admit too. At least she knew some of her habits and reactions were not that good and admitted to acknowledging that. Most people don't easily do that, and they usually don't care about that, but in reality they really should.

She knew at some point she should not over-stress on incidents, and should not rush into conclusions, and not make a big deal out of it all as a matter of fact. She is after all, just like the rest of the people in her field. Why was she the only one feeling that way? It didn't matter in the end, it was a matter of priorities and ways of handling things. More precisely a matter of being cool and calm. Two simple adjectives that will turn her life back, will change her life as well. Pretty fascinating, she thought.

She was always thinking, thinking, and thinking, but the question is was it worth all the effort she put her brain into? No not really.

A time out

0

It's by human nature to want to be around others. However, sometimes there's no control over that. Although it is indeed a natural trait,  us humans tend to discard it for sometime. Remember how they always say : "You take what's good and throw away what's not?" Well, we are not throwing anything here, as a matter of fact we are only putting it aside for sometime. It was scientifically proven that, in order to think right, and do well, us humans should give ourselves a break and just sit in silence for a while. As the silence takes over we get to dive into our inner selves and discover an ultimate timed escape that actually makes a lot of difference. We have to do that every once in a while in order to get back on our feet and move on.
