For this time of year, I was part of two of the grandest events for this semester: The 2015 Annual IT marathon, and the first Undergraduate Research Conference.
For the first I willingly participated for the sake of change and for the sake of staying away from my studies for a little bit. That worked very well and I'm so glad it did. It was a day to remember in all forms whatsoever. As for the latter, the conference, at first I had a lot of doubts regarding it, but then as a challenge I've decided to step up and give it a shot. With nothing very big to present and basically our abstract to attract attention, my group and I went for it. For the very first time, I can not believe I actually took up this chance and experienced what it really feels like to be part of a conference. It felt amazing actually with all the students from different departments and people from all over the place presenting what they worked for. Regardless of what the awards were, it was a splendid experience.
For our part, we had to present a project we've worked on for quite sometime, but it didn't work out well and we eventually had to change it. Being so attached to it because of the fact that we worked really hard on it was a bit of a shock but it had to happen. The best part of presenting it to the others was getting a lot of different options, ideas, and positive feedback that got us thinking about it. As a matter of fact, we've planned to carry on with it in our spare time and hopefully trying to progress through it because it's inevitable that projects fail, and this was ..well not a fail but a slant stop...I have a feeling it can progress...I hope it will sometime soon.
Aside from all of this, a lot of life lessons came about as I progressed through May.
- Real life sucks, but you gotta endure it.
- Never forget the fact that you learn from your mistakes and others as well.
- You are being prepared for what's out there, it's scary but you can take your time to train yourself.
- You just have to learn to treat people with your traits and not theirs, because if you use theirs the same way, then there's basically no difference between the two of you.
- Never fear anything as long as your right, only fear god for he is above them all.
- No matter how much it hurts, stick to your words and always be honest, because honesty is the only key to a peaceful conscious.
- Thank whoever supported and stood by you through your hard times, they depict the true meaning of friends and teachers.
- Do not immerse yourself in one thing, diverse diverse and always diverse.
- Be thankful to god, he's the only reason things are working out well for you.
- Even during hardship, thank him because you never know...things always happen for a reason. Let it be good, let it be bad. It was meant to happen and it's inevitable.
- When you're in a team, your a whole. If one fails, all fails. If one succeeds, all succeeds. It's just the true meaning of a team.
- Accept other opinions and especially ones from an expert. But always have a saying and always point out what you think and believe.
- Quitting a project after 4 months of hard work, does not make your hard work all go to waste because that's not important. What's important is what you learned from the past 4 months is what matters.
- Respect and accept what they have to say.
