"Life moves pretty fast. If you don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it."
- Ferris, from Ferris Bueller's Day Off
My Korean feels could not be contained on the plane, besides
I did not want to fall asleep and I was actually in the mood for a good movie.
None of the available movies appealed to me I have to be
honest so I just went for “The Tower”. To my surprise the movie blew.me.away.
Literally. I never thought it would be this great!
For a start, I’ve got to warn you about the spoiler alerts.
Anyways, moving on.
So the movie revolves around a skyscraper in the middle of
Seoul where a huge Christmas eve party is about to be held. Considering is to
be a very huge Tower preparations were supposed to be really thorough. Anyways,
I won’t go on talking about what the movie I just want to talk about what “I”
thought of the movie. To begin with , it was funny, intense, got me off my
chair and really sad. Conclusion : the
movie was a mixture of all that. I
really loved the scene where the one of the chef’s was babbling about how he
wanted to quit right after he gets his paycheck then suddenly the stove is on
fire…really FUNNY!

I just love the guy on the left, he's just uncontrollably funny! xD |
I considered that as the starting point of all the events
mainly because that’s when everyone had to double check on the sprinklers and what
annoyed me was the fact that the Head ignored the damaged sprinklers at the
higher levels which was not a good choice tbh. I mean the higher levels are the
ones that should be severely looked through mainly because things can be really
dangerous up there!

No regrets |
So a helicopter crashes into the Tower during the party and
that’s when things heat up, people die, people get selfish to save themselves
and just lose their minds. There was this scene that literally describes how
humans actually react in these situations. During a fire situation everyone
knows that elevators should be avoided…during drills everyone avoid them…but
during action when it’s real this time people just lose their mind. In that
scene you get to see how mindless all those people are running towards the
elevators…of course some gets on it but they end up burnt alive. This brings up
the thought, during fire events are elevators working? I mean they should not
right? Because if they were people would defiantly seek them…but if they figure
out that they don’t work then danger could be decreased by a large number
right?

Everyone wants to survive but I'm afraid no one will like this :o |
Anyways, so I really liked how everything escalated to the
point where the lead actually saw his daughter fall from the bridge linking
both towers ( she didn’t fall she actually made it to the other side). Boy I
cried a lot…speaking of crying I burst into tears at the very end when the Main
firefighter risks his life to activate the bomb at the water tanks to stop the
fire…god why did he have to do that. You see that firefighter was on duty at
Christmas eve for the past years..and this year he was actually off duty ..he
ordered a cake for his wife but never got to enjoy it with her L So sad really… he
risked his own life ..god.
So this movie is highly recommended. It’s not a typical
disaster movie it’s actually something really good to watch! I really liked it.
